Who we are
Herohood makes personalised children's storybooks. Herohood Books is being set up as a private limited company in Karnataka, India. Until that is complete, this service is run by the company's promoters. Contact and grievances: mail@herohoodbooks.com (subject: Privacy). We reply within 7 days.
Who this service is for
Only adults aged 18 or over may create an account or reserve a book: a parent or legal guardian, or a gift-giver who has the parent's or guardian's agreement. Children do not use this site.
What we collect
From you (the adult): name, email, whether the book is for your own child or a gift, the time you ticked each consent box, and, for gifts, the parent's or guardian's name and email if you give them.
About the child: first name, nickname, age, and the answers to the questionnaire (appearance, outfit, personality, family characters, occasion), including an optional head covering or religious item if you choose to tell us, which we use only for the drawing. We do not ask for or accept photos.
Technical: your IP address and browser type in server logs, kept for security and fraud prevention. We do not use analytics, advertising pixels, tracking scripts or outside fonts. We set one essential cookie to keep you signed in, and nothing else.
Why we use it
Only to design a hero for the child, write and illustrate the book, communicate with you about your order, and keep the service safe. We do not sell your data and do not use it for advertising. Your child's likeness is never used to promote Herohood without your separate written permission.
Photos
We do not currently ask for or accept photos of children. If we add this later, we will ask for your consent first and update this notice before we do.
Gifts
If you order for someone else's child, you may give the parent's or guardian's email. Once you have confirmed your own email, we send them a short notice about the order. It names you but contains no details about the child, and tells them how to ask us to cancel the order and delete the data.
Who sees it
Our team and our service providers: web hosting (Hostinger) and email (Microsoft), payment processing (Razorpay, when payments open) and printing partners (only the details needed to print and ship). They may process data outside India.
How long we keep it
Questionnaire answers and account details are kept while your order is active and for up to 12 months afterwards, then deleted, unless the law requires longer (for example, tax records). Reservations that never become orders are deleted after 6 months.
Your rights
You can ask us to show, correct or delete your data, to withdraw your consent, or to cancel an order, at any time, by writing to the address above. For a child's data, the parent or guardian makes these requests. Withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer make the book.
Security
We use encrypted connections, restricted storage and access limits. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your data we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.

We will post changes here and, for important changes, email you.
